New Reception 2025 - 26

Welcome to our new Reception Class

A huge hello and welcome to the new children and families who are joining our Gillingstool family in September. We absolutely cannot wait to welcome you to our school!

Please have a look at the attached ready-for-school document and photo tour to help your little one be as ready as they can be for September! We appreciate how big this jump is and we want to do every thing we can to make your child's transition to us as positive as possible.

This is a timetable for the different induction events planned for before your child joins us in September. We would absolutely love to see you at as many of these as possible.

Tuesday 3rd of June 4:30pm: New parents/carers Induction Meeting

This meeting is in person at Gillingstool. We will talk through a bit about your child’s first year with us along with long with lots of basic information such as school uniform and school time. We will also talk through what to expect in your child’s first few weeks at Gillingstool and give you your welcome packs. We recommend attending without children if possible.

If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact the school office so we can arrange a time for you to collect your welcome pack.

Thursday 12th of June: Meet the Teacher Story Time

Group 1: 1:15pm-2:00pm

Group 2: 2:15pm-3:00pm

This is a chance for you to come into the classroom with your child, we will all share a book together and the children can then have a little explore and parents can speak to myself with any questions. Please sign up for either Group 1 or 2 by dropping the office an email.

Thursday 26th June 3.30pm-4.30pm: Teddy Bear’s Picnic

After school your child and your family are invited to bring their favourite teddy bear for a picnic on the field. Please bring a picnic blanket and any snacks your child would enjoy. Squash and water will be provided. We would love to see as many people as possible so please bring your other children, grandparents or anyone who would like to join us. We will also play some games together and it will be a lovely and hopefully sunny chance for the children to begin forming some friendships.

1st - 4th of July: Home Visits

You will be assigned a time and date for your home visit with Miss Bradshaw and Miss Gould, our class teaching partner. This will be in your welcome packs. If this time is inconvenient, please contact the office and we will do our best to rearrange.

Tuesday 8th of July: Stay and Play

Caterpillars: 1:15pm-2:00pm

Ladybirds: 2:15pm-3:00pm

This will be the first time your children come to school and come into the classroom independently.

There will a chance to meet other new parents with coffee and biscuits in the hall. Here you can meet Mrs Carter and Jacqui Vokes family link worker to talk all things Gillingstool.

The children will experience a little taste of September, we will sing songs, have a play and get to know each other. Your child will either be a caterpillar or a ladybird and this is the same group they will be in when they join us for part time school in September.
