Pupil Premium
What is Pupil Premium funding?
This is additional funding provided by the DFE to enable the school to focus its attention on pupils who are either on Free School Meals or are deemed (through set criteria) to be in need of additional support. If you think your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, please contact the school office for more information. Alternatively, you can go directly to the South Gloucestershire website: http://www.southglos.gov.uk/advice-and-benefits/benefits/free-school-meals/
How is Pupil Premium Funding used at Gillingstool?
Funding is utilised to maximise quality first teaching across the school and this is supplemented by employing additional hours of support from teachers and teaching assistants. They work with specific children in small groups or in a one to one situation. These sessions are planned by the teaching staff and implemented with very positive results.
Funding is also used to allow Year 6 pupils to attend their residential visit, to subsidise other trips and visits across the school and to support Pupil Premium pupils to access music lessons and after-school fee-paying clubs.
What impact has Pupil Premium funding had?
The children who benefited from the additional support have made more progress than expected. This progress is not only academically but also in terms of confidence and perseverance in completing their learning and extending themselves.
Please read through the Pupil Premium Strategy for more details about how Pupil Premium is used and impact of the funding.
